James “Jim” Petrou, 71 passed in loving care of his family on August 19th, 2020. He is the devoted husband of Carrie Petrou (nee Peters). Loving father of Cassie (Mike) Hildebrand and CJ (Tara) Petrou. Cherished Papou of Alex, Dani, Maddison and Cheyenne. Beloved son of the late Charles (Chrisula) Petrou and son in law of Helen (the late Jim) Peters. Dear brother of the late Tommy(Rosie) Petrou and brother in law of Anne (the late Ted) Stundahl, Mary Kay (the late Joe) Seidl, Jamie Amacci, Becky Peters and Christina (David) Menter. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins and grand dogs.
Jim was knowledgeable in makes & models of cars. His favorite was the El Camino that he restored. In his prime, Jim was an accomplished swimmer for Oak Hills High School, where he was a long-time record holder for the Butterfly Stroke. He continued on to be a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool. He was passionate about spending time with his family and dirt bike riding with his son. Neighbors could always count on a friendly wave as Jim would be on the porch overseeing the activities of the neighborhood. A Railroad Engineer by trade, Jim had a 32 year career that was only interrupted when he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Family and friends are invited to a public visitation Tuesday August 25th, from 5-8 PM at the Dalbert Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home 2880 Boudinot Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45238. (Masks will be required) A funeral service will take place privately, per Covid-19 restrictions. He will be laid to rest at Saint Joe New Cemetery in Delhi.
