Dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Adored Grandmother and Great Grandmother Sylvia S. Peters, age 89, of Cincinnati Ohio, passed peacefully into God’s arms at home with family holding her hand January 23rd, 2016.  She is survived by her beloved husband Samuel L. Peters, loving mother to David (Lynn) Rauck and Diane Peters, cherished and adored grandmother to Josh S. (Debbie) Greene, Davy Rauck, and Sondra Lynn (James) Grover, and nine special great-grandchildren.

Born in 1926, to Viola and Joseph Janson in South Fairmont.  At the early age, her competitive nature began when winning the city wide “jacks” tournament in 1940.  While attending Western Hills High School, she bested 283 fellow competitors to win “top junior clerk stenographer”, for the Cincinnati Civil Service Commission.  After graduating, Sylvia began a long career as secretary for the Superintendent of Cincinnati Board of Education retiring in 1978.

Sylvia passionately lived life to the fullest until her last breath.  Well into her 80s she enjoyed golf and tennis, snow skiing, and playing competitive bridge tournaments. One of her most proud accomplishments was earning the unique distinction of becoming a “Silver Life Master” in the game of bridge. 

She possessed a strong character, unyielding loyalty, genuine honesty, endless passion, generosity, fiery tenacity, unrelenting persistence, and a strong faith in God.  Her beauty, elegance, and poise were unparalleled.  She enjoyed life completely, lived it intensely, and loved unconditionally.   The world has lost a true angel.  “To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die” Thomas Campbell.
