Soterios "Sam" Beltsos, born on May 9, 1937, in Monopilo Kastoria, Greece, passed away peacefully at his home in Green Township on June 1, 2025. He was a proud and beloved member of his community, best known as the founder of Price Hill Chili, a cherished family restaurant that has been a landmark in the West Side since 1962. Sam shared his warmth and love through every dish served, becoming a familiar face to generations of customers who came to appreciate not just the food he offered, but also the heart and soul he poured into his business.
Sam was a man defined by his effervescent personality; always talkative and outgoing, he had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. His unwavering commitment to his craft was matched only by his heartfelt appreciation for his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Operating a true family business was one of Sam's proudest accomplishments, reflecting his love for community and connection.
Outside of his restaurant, Sam cherished moments spent on the golf course and enjoyed sharing these outings with his friends and family. But his most cherished role was that of Papou, the affectionate Greek term for grandpa. He took immense pride in being a guiding presence and loving figure to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Alexia (Joe), Samantha (Jeremy), Karissa, Steven, Maria, Ava, Arianna, Alexander, Liam, Josephine, Jameson, and Grayson. His legacy will continue to resonate through their lives and the memories they hold dear.
Sam is also survived by his loving wife, Esmine Beltsos, and their children, Steven (Kanda) Beltsos, Paul (Jeanna) Beltsos, and daughter in law Melissa Beltsos.
He joins in eternal rest with his son Chris Beltsos, and his beloved parents, Stavros and Maria Beltsos. Additionally, he is reunited with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lazaros and Thelma Nourtsis.
To honor Sam's remarkable life, visitation will take place on June 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, located at 7000 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45224. A memorial gathering will commence after the burial, back at the church, to celebrate the incredible life he lived and the countless lives he touched.
Sam Beltsos will be forever remembered not only for his contributions to his community but also for his loving spirit, his devotion to family, and the laughter that echoed through the walls of Price Hill Chili. His memory will remain an enduring source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew him.
