Ruth Florence Kortgardner

Ruth Florence Kortgardner went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on April 7, 2016 at the age of 90 years.  She was born March 29, 1926. She is survived by niece Karen Kortgardner Fogel, nephew John (Vicki) Kortgardner, great nieces and nephews Megan and Brian Fogel, Ross (Erin) Kortgardner and Shana Kortgardner, many cousins, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.  She attended Western Hills High School, Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing then Indiana University for her BSN and Xavier University for her Master’s Degree. She was in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WW II. She taught at Bethesda School of Nursing for over 38 years, fostering thousands into the nursing profession. She was a long time Alumni and Board member and past President, volunteering for many years after and was the school historian. She was a faithful member at Shiloh United Methodist Church for over 78 years, involved in the United Methodist Women, was the church historian and on the Board.  She volunteered for the Red Cross and at Emmanuel Community Center and Wesley Hall.  She was an avid gardener and took care of the gardens at Shiloh for many years.  She also loved reading, Bible study, baking, feeding the birds in her yard and corresponding with family, friends and her many students over the years.  She kept every single card and photo ever given to her. She felt very strongly about supporting many charities especially those relating to Native Americans. She loved genealogy and telling the stories of her family’s history in Cincinnati and Delhi Township. A family history that spans over 136 years in greater Cincinnati and 113 years in Delhi Township.

Friends and family are invited to a Visitation Friday evening April 15th from 6 to 8 PM at the Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home 2880 Boudinot Avenue Cincinnati, OH 45238.

Saturday April 16th, the family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 11 AM at the Shiloh United Methodist Church 5261 Foley Road Cincinnati, OH 45238.
