Melanie, our Victorian rose, a true lady, vibrant, full of kindness, and silliness. She possessed a sharp curious mind and was honest to a fault. She always took people seriously and made them feel special.
Melanie was born to Edward and Natalie Simchick on March 09, 1949. Melanie was dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, achieved a master’s in English Literature, and was a public school teacher for both English and French for over twenty years. She also spoke French as if she was born in Lyon, an idyllic, quiet town in France she dreamed of retiring to.
Melanie, a dynamic woman who’s grace and compassion will be greatly missed in this world, passed from pancreatic cancer on April 7th 2023.
A celebration of life service will be held at Unity of Garden Park on W Galbraith Rd on April 30 at 2pm.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or find a teacher on Donors Choose.
Melanie is survived by her husband Bruce, daughter Roxanna, and son Gideon, four grandchildren, Marek, Maeve, Liam, and Devan in addition to two sisters, her mother, and nieces and nephews.
“There is no beginning, no middle, no end, no suspense, no moral, no causes, no effects. What we love in our books are the depths of many marvelous moments seen all at one time.”
