Marion Lee Schum, affectionately known as "Mimi," left this world on May 10, 2025, at Traditions North Bend. Born in London, Kentucky, on June 21, 1944, she lived a life marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that brightened the lives of many around her.
As a dedicated caregiver and babysitter, Marion embraced her role with warmth and compassion. She provided care to many local children, nurturing them as if they were her own. Her bubbly personality and infectious smile lit up any room she entered, making friends easily and never meeting an enemy. Marion's love extended beyond human connections; she had a special fondness for animals, often caring for her own and for strays with the same tenderness.
Some cherished memories of Marion include her joyful habit of squeezing the cheeks of babies she encountered and her adventurous spirit when trying new things, such as the funny face she made during her first tasting of sushi. She also found delight in feeding treats to horses, approaching them without fear, a testament to her nurturing nature.
Marion's hobbies reflected her love for life; she enjoyed gardening, cutting her own grass, and indulging in time spent with animals. Her proudest accomplishments were her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy, and she could often be found running circles around others, regardless of their age, showcasing her vibrant energy.
Marion is survived by her loving family, including her sons, Michael Schum and his wife Rhonda, Bryan Schum, and Jason Schum alongside his wife Michelle. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Alex Schum and his wife Kelli, Lauren Schum, Destany LaJoye, Sladen Schum, and Leanna Schum, along with her great-grandsons, Jace Wells and Sebastian Harp.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank David Schum, her parents, Walter and Helen Parman, and her siblings, Billy and Frank Parman.
Marion's life will be celebrated through a graveside service on May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Baltimore Pike Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marion Lee Schum will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
