GWEN STONE

Gwen (nee Gardner).  Loving wife of Sam Stone for 57 years. Devoted mother of Jeff (Johnnie) and Dave (Beth) Stone. Cherished grandmother of Jason Stone, Jennifer (Ryan) Dew, Justin Stone, Savannah (Patrick) Garcia, Sadie (Aaron) Joss, and Sam Stone and devoted great-grandmother of John Ryman Garcia and Vera Michelle Garcia. Sister of Lynn, Phil, Keith, and the late Greg Gardner. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was born on March 24, 1936 and passed from this life on December 18, 2015 at the age of 79.

Gwen grew up on a farm near Mays, Indiana and graduated Salutatorian of her class. She went on to Ozark Bible College graduating in 1958 and was married the next week to Sam. She worked in the Editorial Department for Standard Publishing. In the next few decades she wore numerous hats as a minister’s wife, homemaker and mentor to countless young women from the Cincinnati Christian University. Behind every successful husband is a great wife and together Gwen and Sam have had an incredible kingdom impact.

Her greatest desire in life was to serve the Lord and pass his love onto everyone she encountered.  She succeeded in that endeavor. Untold people around the world have been blessed by Gwen’s faith and selflessness.

At a time in life when many pull away from their grandchildren “Nana” took intentional steps toward them.  She painstakingly learned how to stay in touch with them through texting and Instagram.  Her passion to pray and her genuine interest in her grandchildren and great grandchildren will reap eternal dividends for years to come.
