John was born and raised in Westwood, Cincinnati, Ohio. He received his D.D.S from The Ohio State University and was an avid college football fan as a result. His love of boating and the river brought him the love of his life, Martha, whom he met while on a boating double date. After his service in the Army Dental Corp, he and Martha spent their summers on houseboats, raising their 3 beautiful children to love the water as they did. John also had an avid interest in sports cars, racing Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) events all around the tri-state area often with his wife Marty navigating. John leaves the legacy of being his family’s captain and founder of their treasured lake house “Tooth Acres”. He eventually retired to the lake in Warsaw, KY where he continued to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes as an amateur Ham Radio operator (Rest in Peace WD8NMV).
John will be remembered for his active involvement in the community, no matter what community he resided in at the time. This included the Cheviot-Westwood Kiwanis Club, Cincinnati Dental Society, Hillandale HOA, local churches and more. He was even honored in Gallatin County with “John Bennet Day” on December 13, 2015 for his many contributions to civic society. He spent his last 6 years at Ohio Living Llanfair, in College Hill, where he was active in both the social and volunteer communities. John enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling the world and serving his church. His great stories, sense of adventure and love of helping others brought joy to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
