Diann Marie Funk, age 77, of Mt. Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lived a life filled with curiosity, courage, and a deep love for the people around her.
Diann was known for her sweet and loving nature. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome—no one remained a stranger for long. She embraced new experiences with enthusiasm, whether she was learning a new skill, taking on a new job, or stepping into a new adventure. Her joyful spirit and open heart made her unforgettable to all who knew her.
A woman of many talents, Diann was proud to have soloed in an airplane in the early 1970s and later joined the Civil Air Patrol—one of her greatest personal accomplishments and a testament to her fearless spirit. She worked in places that brought her joy and connection, including Putt-Putt Golf and Games and Winn-Dixie as a cahier, and she loved every moment of it. She also shared her voice in the church choir, where her singing became a cherished part of her community.
Diann’s hobbies were as vibrant as she was. She was an avid bingo player, a dedicated knitter, a joyful belly dancer, and someone who found deep meaning in distributing the Eucharist. Her life was a beautiful blend of fun, faith, and creativity.
She is survived by her loving son, Joe Gehling; her siblings George Funk, Nancy Stahl, Kathy Tyree, JoAnn Huff, Gene Tudor, and Chip Prichard; as well as many nieces and nephews.
