Betty "Pixie" Klein (nee Miller)

Betty "Pixie" Klein (née Miller), a cherished educator and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on October 3, 1949, in Cincinnati, Betty's life was marked by a dedication to teaching, a passion for sports, and a love for her family and friends that was as vibrant as her personality.

A proud graduate of Oak Hills High School, class of 1967, Betty furthered her education at Purdue University where she completed her undergraduate studies, followed by graduate work at Indiana University. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a fulfilling career in education, beginning in Louisville and extending across the country—from California to Cincinnati. She devoted herself to teaching both children and adults, leaving a lasting impression on countless lives with her brutal honesty, supportive nature, and wealth of knowledge. Betty's distinctive wit and often sarcastic humor were part of her unique charm, matched only by her stubborn determination and heartfelt care.

Known affectionately as "Pixie," Betty delighted in spirited conversations that often unfolded around the kitchen table, creating warm memories cherished by family and friends alike. A woman of many interests, she loved to travel extensively across the United States and Australia, relishing the opportunity to explore new places and cultures. Sports played a significant role in Betty’s life; she was an avid basketball fan who consistently chose Purdue in rivalry games, a lifelong supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, and a devoted spectator of NASCAR and the Indy 500. Above all, she took immense pride and joy in watching her grandchildren participate in their many sports activities.

Betty's family was central to her life. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Jessica Graves; her sons, Morgan Graves and his wife Jaymi, and Brett Graves and his wife Jen; her grandchildren Savannah (Josh), Gabrielle, Anastasia, Tucker, Brianne, Brett Jr., and Jackson; as well as her great-grandchildren Samiah, Rui, and Romi. She also leaves behind her nieces Kathy Cowen, Beth Young, and Jeanne Beckett; her nephew Jeff Miller; several great-nieces and nephews; and numerous dear friends from high school, college, and her extensive career, along with friends made through her children's circles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Fred Miller; her sister Mary Katherine Carpenter and brother-in-law Jack Carpenter; her sister Janet Lou Miller and brother-in-law Bill Miller; her nephew Rick Carpenter and her niece Susan Randolph.

Betty passed away surrounded by the loving embrace of her family, a testament to the deep connections and love she cultivated throughout her life. Her legacy as a dedicated teacher, passionate sports fan, witty conversationalist, and loving matriarch will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew her.

Her memory will remain a guiding light for her family and all whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, "Pixie", whose spirit and unyielding love will endure forever.
