Anna Katherine Dunn (1934-2020) passed away peacefully on the morning of March 2 with family members at her side. Ann was born in Benton, KY as the eldest daughter of Charles Douglas Rose and Lula Mae Rose, and spent most of her life in Florence, KY and Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband and partner of 46 years, Bob Dunn, son John Dunn, and brother Charles Rose. She is survived by her sisters Jane Walker (husband Dick Walker, Paducah, KY) and Pat Robertson (husband Jim Robertson, Goleta, CA); children, Sandi Webb (Burlington, KY), Tony Dunn (wife Angela Dunn, Manchester, Ohio), Scott Dunn (wife Tina Scott Dunn, Williamstown, KY), and Keith Dunn (wife Beth Sweeney Dunn, Jackson, MS); as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Ann and Bob Dunn were an inseparable team whose lives were completely devoted to demonstrating the love of Christ through service to others. They were life-long educators, home and foreign missionaries and devoted servants of all God’s people. Ann taught English at Boone County High School in Florence, KY for 27 years. She also taught adult education classes at the Boone County Adult Education Center and English as a Second Language classes at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cincinnati. Ann spent 2 years as a foreign missionary in China through the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board and several summers teaching English in China and Mongolia through the ELIC. Throughout her life, Ann served faithfully in countless churches, including Greenview Baptist Church in Florence, KY and First Baptist Church of Dent in Cincinnati, OH. She was particularly proud to be a part of the Korean Baptist Church (now known as Glory Baptist Church of Cincinnati) family, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. This congregation was instrumental in honoring Ann by leading the movement to have the Cincinnati Baptist Association’s home mission offering named in her honor in 2009.
Ann Dunn was an inspirational and selfless servant who personified the ideals of compassion, acceptance, and devotion. She loved without condition. She served without expecting anything in return, and she reinforced the dignity of all human beings for all who were lucky enough to know her. She was cherished and will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ann’s honor to the Ann Dunn/Joanne Hopkins Associational Missions Offering at CABA, P.O. Box 54885, Cincinnati, OH or the Alzheimer’s Association.
