Kenneth John Tarvin

Kenneth John Tarvin

Devoted husband of 66 years to Marlene Tarvin (nee Miller). Loving father of Lynn (Mike) Sparks and Donna (Robert) Kimball. Cherished grandfather of Andrew (Angie), Kyle (Amanda), Elizabeth (Bryan), Bradley, and David (Anna). Adoring great grandfather of Perry, Addison, Josey and Mila. Dear brother of Gordon Tarvin and the late  Robert Tarvin and Mary Lou Miller. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ken was born to Mabel & Gordon Tarvin and grew up in Price Hill. He attended Carson Elementary and Western Hills High Schools, where he met the absolute love of his life, Marlene Miller. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and returned home to marry and start a family. Ken worked for years as a regional sales manager for the Southern Pacific, eventually “retiring” and beginning his new career as the head of TRANSNET Cincinnati. His love for this venture and the clients he served made him very successful, and allowed him to generously provide blessings to many…family, friends, and church.

His associations over the years included Westwood-Cheviot Kiwanis, Tarvin Family Association, Westwood Civic Association, Immanuel United Church of Christ, Westwood First Presbyterian Church, Special Olympics and Honor Flight Cincinnati, which he was thrilled to be part of in 2016.

A great patriot has been lost to our world. He certainly left with accomplishments and devoted family and friends to grieve his passing.

Ken received loving care from so many of the staff of Christ Hospital. His family would like to thank those angels for their expertise and comfort and to Rev. Jeff Collarossi for his pastoral support. He will be mourned and missed by many and he set a true example of how to live a good life – “God, Country and Family.”

Visitation Saturday November 9, 2019 from 12 PM to 1 PM, followed by a 1 PM Funeral Service at the Westwood First Presbyterian Church, 3011 Harrison Ave., 45211. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Westwood First Presbyterian Church or charity of choice.
