Timothy “Tim” Michael Nienaber, born July 21, 1953, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 72. A lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, Tim lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and community.
Beloved husband of Julie Nienaber (nee Tenoever), devoted father of Maura Nienaber Cobb (Matt), Matt Nienaber, Patrick Nienaber (Beth French), and Brian Nienaber, loving grandfather of Will and Wyatt Cobb, and Sedona Yuan, dear son of the late Marge (nee Kennedy) & George Nienaber, loving brother of the late Jim Nienaber (Patti), the late Patty Benken (Tom), the late Peggy May (late Frank), and the late Tom Nienaber. Tim was a devoted son, husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Tim met the love of his life, Julie Tenoever, at age of 17 in 1970. They married on April 8, 1978, and were married for 47 years.
A pioneer in the ATM industry, Tim spent 41 dedicated years with PNC Bank, beginning his career at Central Trust before its acquisition by PNC. He retired in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and innovation. While raising three young children, before the birth of his fourth and working full time, Tim attended night school at the University of Cincinnati, earning his bachelor’s degree in business — an achievement that reflected his drive, sacrifice, and commitment to providing for his family.
Tim was a proud graduate of Elder High School (Class of 1971) and a proud Army veteran. His love of sports was legendary — he faithfully followed many teams, especially the Cincinnati Bengals and Elder High School football. He also loved playing golf and never missed the chance to enjoy a good game.
In earlier years, Tim enjoyed biking, hiking, and long walks. He and Julie shared a love of travel, especially out West, spending cherished time in Colorado and Wyoming — with Yellowstone holding a special place in their hearts. Visits to Colorado to spend time with his grandsons were especially meaningful, and Tim was always looking forward to the next road trip.
A faithful Catholic, Tim was devoted to his faith, to Jesus, and Mother of Mary. He had a gift for conversation and friendship, always ready for a laugh, a story, or a good time.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1175 Overlook Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers DONATE HERE or Elder High School DONATE HERE.
Above all, Tim leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family — a life well lived and deeply treasured.
