Robert "Bob" Edward Sehlhorst, a cherished figure in the Cincinnati community and a devoted family man, passed away on April 28, 2026, in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on June 14, 1928, in Cincinnati, Bob led a life marked by dedication, vibrant character, and a deep love for both his family and his passions.
Bob was widely known and respected as a talented florist, having been a partner of Sehlhorst the Florist, with his brother, Linus. His expertise and creativity in the field brought beauty and joy to many, reflecting his vibrant personality. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob served his country with honor in the United States Army.
A man of many interests, Bob was an avid dancer who delighted in various styles including square dancing, clogging, and ballroom dancing. He embraced an active lifestyle, finding joy in water skiing, snow skiing, and the pride he took in maintaining his yard. His energetic spirit and love for life were evident to all who knew him.
Bob’s personality was unmistakable; he enjoyed being the center of attention and was remembered as a true character who brought warmth and humor to every gathering.
He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Mary (Tom Shedd) Sehlhorst and Nancy Chabot; his son Rob (Margaret) Sehlhorst; and his grandchildren Laura (Jarrod) Verkamp, Maria (Scott Keiler) Chabot, Charlie Sehlhorst, Julia (Noah Allen) Sehlhorst, and Andrew Sehlhorst. Bob also leaves behind great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Ronan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will dearly miss his presence.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan E. Sehlhorst (nee Surnbrock); his son-in-law, Ron Chabot; and his siblings, Marcella Littlefield, Ginny Bolser, Dolores Minning-Bailey, Thelma Dasenbrock, Angela Rauf, Adrian Sehlhorst, Linus Sehlhorst, Jeanette Mather, and Blanche Renzenkuper.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Bob’s life will be held on Monday June 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, located at 810 Neeb Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45233. This gathering will provide family, friends, and all who admired Bob an opportunity to celebrate his remarkable life and legacy. There will be time to visit with the family immediately following the Mass in the Convocation Center at Our Lady of Victory.
Robert "Bob" Edward Sehlhorst’s life was one of service, love, and joyful engagement with the world. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege to know him.
