Franklin D. Chaffin, passed away peacefully at his residence in Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 31, 1933, in Pineville, Kentucky, Franklin dedicated much of his life to work, family, and enriching the lives of those around him.
Franklin enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Tool Grinder and Machinist, retiring after an impressive 29 and a half years with the William Powell Valve Co. and General Electric. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his dedication to his family, who he cherished deeply.
He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army, demonstrating the values of hard work and perseverance that he carried throughout his life. Franklin was not only well-known for his professional efforts but was also a hard-working and generous individual, known for being very well liked and loved by those fortunate enough to know him.
In his leisure time, Franklin found joy in bowling, family vacations, and fishing—activities that allowed him to create lasting memories, especially with his grandchildren. He relished countless days spent fishing with them, further solidifying bonds that will be cherished for generations to come.
Franklin is survived by his children: Anna (Ron) Fible, James (Janice) Sawyers, Sandra (Eddie Evans) Smith, Diana (the late Ronald) Gibson, and Frankie (John) Branham. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of family, including his beloved grandchildren: Scott, Kelly, DeAnna, Angela, Franklin, Roni, Ronald, Regan, Raif, Randi, John, Toni, Nicholas, Heather, Lori, and James. In addition, Franklin is survived by 43 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ileen Chaffin, whose memory remains a cherished part of his family's history, and his sister, Kathryn Burgin.
Franklin's funeral services will be held at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Visitation is scheduled for February 25, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service that will commence at 7:00 PM.
Franklin D. Chaffin will be remembered for the love and devotion he provided to his family and friends. His legacy of kindness and commitment to family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
